| Wow - I got 11 comments on my last entry! That's a record for this blog, I think! Ok, I'll admit that some of them were from conversations back and forth w/ my girls, but still. Eleven comments makes me feel good! Well, Brook's back in Nepal where it's lots cooler and rainier than here. We're waiting for the election results from my mom's campaign for House of Representatives! She's having a party tonight and sadly I'm here by myself in my little apartment reading a speech textbook. Oh, well. I've gotta chip away at a little of my workload at a time to get ready for the next couple of weeks! This weekend will be fun because Mrs. L is coming to see me and we're going to Ms. A's wedding! It should be really pretty. Other than that, not much is new. It's way too hot out, so lately I've just been inside, reading and watching some tv. Oh, for those of you who are curious about the men in my life lately... Here they are!
Bob Schieffer - He's so cute and funny!
Bill O'Reilly is also awesome! He keeps me up to date on Fox News and also makes me laugh sometimes. And, my personal favorite . . .
Curtis Stone - the Take Home Chef from TLC! Now, if only he'd come find me at Dyer's and cook me an incredible meal! So, as you can tell, these great guys have kept me entertained lately. Obviously, I need to go back to work so I don't sit around watching the news and cooking shows so much. LOL!

| I was about to start my entry by saying how long it's been since I've updated (which is true), but then I realized that practically all my entries start like that. Oh well, it's true. It's been awhile since I've updated. haha If I had more exciting things to write about I'm sure I would update daily, but since I'm pretty much just goin about my summer just about like always, it's hard to think of what to write. But, still, my week's been fun. Last week I was in Hesston again, helping w/ my mom's campaign for State Representative! I also hung out a lot w/ my sisters, going swimming, going shopping, and braving the heat to watch my brothers play baseball. The highlight of last weekend was that I got to be home for the McPherson County Fair and go to the demolition derby in good ol' Canton!! Woo hoo! That's where I used to live and teach before I saw the light and came to bigger and better things NE KS. But, going to demo. derbies is seriously the thing I love about summer the most! This year no one wanted to go w/ me, so I convinced my dad to go w/ me and we had lots of fun! It was loud, rowdy, and we got mud flung on us, but that's the best part! My dad and I agreed that it's the most W.T. thing anybody can do in the summer, but I love it! HAHA Here's a pic I found of what one looks like just in case someone's never been to one. Believe me, ya'll are missin' out if you haven't sat for 3 hours in the heat of July and cheered while cars smashed the crap out of each other in a mud pit!!!!
Well, the sad thing is that Brook leaves for Nepal on Wednesday. I won't see her for another year, but she is doing what the Lord wants her to do, so all I can do is hope we can email often again this year. Pretty soon I'll be going back to work and will get to see all my lovely kiddos, too, so that will help me not get lonely. I'm starting to stress about all my new classes, but then again, I can't wait to see all those bright and shining faces just so eager to learn!! LOL Well, I guess that's it for now. | | |
| Here are some family pictures we took a couple weeks ago. In the back are Brodi, Brook, Me, Dad, Mom, and Carson. In the front row are my sister's husband Blake, Cassidy, and John. Fun times!!

The second picture has Caleb, Brodi's boyfriend, in it also!

| I guess I should update now that it's been at least a week. Not much is new, just the same old thing, really. I had fun on the 4th shooting off fireworks w/ my sisters Brook and Brodi and Brodi's boyfriend Caleb. We went and saw a fireworks show in the exiting metropolis of Moundridge, KS - WOOHOO - that we thought was going to be an hour long. It turns out it was like maybe 40 min. but it was still fun. I picked out this silly firework for 35 cents that looked like a Britney Spears CD. When we lit it it just spun around and started flaming, and then afterwards it was totally charred and you could only see half of her face. LOL - oh no! Since then I've gone shopping a couple times and found some sweet deals! I ended up getting 3 sweaters for $5 each that were each originally like $50 - from Gap and The Jones Store. Gotta start getting ready to go to work again. And - for my girls who know me - I couldn't resist getting a couple pairs of shoes, too. But. ya'll should be proud because neither pair have heels. (I'll look for those next time I go. haha) Brook and I tried to be really spontaneous and drive to Manhattan last night to watch Pirates of the Caribbean at the 10:10 showing, thinking not that many people would go on Sun. night since it's like 2 1/2 hrs long, but we got there and it was already sold out! Guess we shoulda called first. Oh well. That's it for now. | | |
| This week has been crazy at my parents' house! Since my sister and her pastor and his wife have been here from Nepal, we have had a lot of fun. My other sister Cassidy and her husband were here, and Brodi and her boyfriend, plus my brothers, and then my cousins and tons of other people have come over, too. The other night we had 16 people here for Cass's b-day. But, I've had fun just doing tons of stuff w/ my fam. We have had lots of big dinners, lots of time at church, played frisbee golf, gone swimming, and we even had to march in a parade for my mom! She is running for KS House of Representatives so we all had these shirts that said "Vote Birch" on the back and my sister, her boyfriend, and I had to wear these big signs and walk around passing out candy and flyers. I saw like 4 people from my high school class, but it was fun and all for a good cause. It's about time to come back to good ol' Wamego for a week or so, so I'll probably do that soon. Other than that, I hope everyone has a "blast" on the 4th of July! Get it? HAHA! I'll post some family pics soon! | | |
